Sophomore Cali Stietzel hit a 3-point shot with 26 seconds remaining and Megan Kozlowski made a steal on the final play to lead Ridgefield to a 41-40 win over Trumbull in the second of four FCIAC Tournament quarterfinal games at Fairfield Ludlowe. Trinity Catholic defeated Ludlowe, 59-50, in the afternoon’s first game. Danbury and Norwalk also advanced.
Allowing just two fourth-quarter field goals until the closing seconds, Norwalk won the most anticipated game of the FCIAC regular season, 41-37, against the two-time defending champions. The Bears (19-0, 15-0 FCIAC), the No. 1 team in the state, secured the top seed in the FCIAC Tournament, which begins on Saturday.
The Cardinals’ Kelsey Fedorko, who won the beam and vault, tied for first on the bars and was second in the floor exercise, finished with a score of 36.45 to win the all-around. Ludlowe’s Ava Mancini, who tied Fedorko on the bars, took second place with a score of 35.95. Trumbull’s Merritt Stevenson (35.6) was third.
