We have six male and six female finalists for The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Player of the Week vote. The polls close at noon on Thursday. The winners will receive POTW T-shirts.
Here are the male finalists:
Chris Cruz, Greenwich Soccer. Cruz scored in overtime to lift the Cardinals to a 1-0 win over Xavier and a berth in the Class LL quarterfinals.
Will Diamantis, St. Joseph Football. Diamantis had three touchdown receptions in a 55-6 win over Brien McMahon.
Malamin Jallow, Danbury Soccer. Jallow scored the deciding goal in a 1-0 win over Naugatuck to lift the Hatters to a berth in the Class LL quarterfinals.
Owen Mathews, Ridgefield Football. Mathews threw three touchdown passes in a 29-0 win over Fairfield Warde.
Jack Saltus, Staples Football. In his first start of the season, Saltus threw for four touchdowns and ran for another in a 37-0 win over Stamford.
Christian Sweeney, New Canaan Football. Sweeney rushed for two touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Fairfield Ludlowe.
Here are the female finalists:
Cristina Escajadillo, Darien Volleyball. Escajadillo finished with 25 assists and 14 digs in a 3-1 Class LL quarterfinal win over Glastonbury.
Erynn Floyd, Wilton Soccer. Floyd made the lone save in penalty kicks to help the Warriors upset St. Joseph in the Class LL tournament second round.
Meghan Lesko, Trumbull Girls Soccer. Lesko finished with two goals and an assist in a 3-1 Class LL second-round win over Shelton.
Tasha Riek, Ridgefield Soccer. Riek’s goal lifted the Tigers to a 1-0 win over Darien and a spot in the Class LL semifinals.
Sophia Thagouras, Westhill Volleyball. Thagouras finished with 14 service, 3 digs, 12 assists and 5 kills in a 3-0 Class LL quarterfinal win over Greenwich.
Ashley Wright, Staples Soccer. Wright’s corner kick set up the winning goal in a 2-1 Class LL second-round victory over New Canaan. Wright had another set-piece assist in a 3-0 quarterfinal win over Trumbull.
