Polly Parsons-Hills is a New Canaan senior and social media specialist for The Ruden Report. For this new feature she will interview FCIAC athletes to learn about their interests away from the competition.
Next up is Dylan Thomas, one of the leaders of the Norwalk boys soccer team.
PPH: What is your favorite memory of high school?
DT: My favorite memory of high school so far was definitely winning the FCIAC’s my junior year. It’s a memorable moment and I got to do it with people I consider family.
PPH: What is one piece of advice you would give to underclassmen?
DT: One piece of advice I give to underclassman is to enjoy the experience because it goes by so fast. Take it day by day and don’t look further ahead. You’ll be a senior once you know it.
PPH: How many siblings and pets do you have? Describe them.
DT: I have two younger sisters who are in middle school and unfortunately no pets.
PPH: Do you have any pregame rituals?
DT: Some pregame rituals I have is that I always warm up with my shoelaces untied and that I have to listen to the same two songs before every game.
PPH: If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? Why?
DT: I would definitely want to witness Ray Allen’s Game 6 3-pointer in the 2013 NBA Finals. This shot is just too iconic and witnessing it live would’ve been amazing.
PPH: What are your favorite and least favorite ice cream flavors?
DT: My favorite ice cream flavors are Oreo, vanilla, and brownie mix. Some flavors I don’t like are peach, strawberry and coconut.
PPH: What is one funny childhood memory of yours?
DT: One funny childhood memory of mine is that I was riding a scooter down a steep hill when I was about 9 and didn’t know how to brake it. I ended up jumping off into a bush.
PPH: Do you have any weird talents? How did you come across them?
DT: One weird talent I have is that I’m really good at geography. So all states (and majority of countries) and capitals I could name on the spot. I had a states and capitals book growing up so I just memorized it all and went bigger to countries.
PPH: If you only had three wishes what would they be? (And no, you can’t ask for more wishes.)
DT: If I had three wishes they’d be to go back to my junior year, have an unlimited supply of fruit punch Body Armor and a lifelong Chipotle pass.
PPH: Which one would you prefer? A zombie or vampire apocalypse? Why?
DT: I would prefer a zombie apocalypse only because vampires are something else and way faster than zombies. I’m also just not with that Dracula stuff.
PPH: What song hypes you up the most?
DT: The song that hypes me up the most is “Never Recover” by Lil Baby, Gunna & Drake.
