We don’t make the habit of covering Ruden Report sponsored events, but in this case an exception is needed because there are so many people to thank after Tuesday night’s second FCIAC Football Media Day at Zody’s 19th Hole. It was nice to see all of the league’s coaches and captains together in one room, as well as many colleagues from the media.

As for the thank-yous:

Thanks first to Armen Keteyian, the guest speaker, who did an outstanding job of taking his experiences as a former high school and college player, and then covering college and professional sports — his best-selling book The System was just released in paperback — and relating it to high school football. Armen is no stranger to FCIAC football — he was integral to the fundraising for the New Canaan football complex when he was a resident in the town, and now lives in Fairfield.

Thanks to all the teams for coming out. At this time of year, the travel and two hours are a lot in their busy schedules. Hopefully it was worth it.

Thanks to the many media members who came out and do such a great job of providing the FCIAC with such tremendous coverage — in football and all sports.

Thanks to the sponsors: Bankwell, BlueStreak Sports Training, Chicken Joe’s, Competitive Edge College Advisers, Hoyt Livery, Innovative Health & Rehabilitation, Karl Chevrolet, Resource Management Group, Rhone Apparel, Under Armour and Zody’s 19th Hole. Without their generous support, there would not have been a media day.

And thanks to Mike Zody and his wonderful staff. They ensured that everything ran smoothly and that there was plenty of food for nearly 80 hungry football players fresh off practice, and for everyone else.

We shot the first episode of FCIAC Football Weekly, with 10 coaches, which will be on the site later this week.

The night was a fun way to help kickoff the season and have everyone that makes the sport special together in one room for two hours.

Hopefully we can do it again next year.
