Danbury Rolls To 33rd FCIAC Wrestling Title In 34 Years

NEW CANAAN — In a typical dominating performance, Danbury placed wrestlers in the finals of nine of the 14 weight classes, won five titles and rolled to its 33rd FCIAC title in 34 years.

The Hatters finished with 298 points to outdistance Fairfield Warde, which came in second with 236.5 points. Staples, the surprise of the league this year in what is a quickly growing program, took third place with 184 points.

Trumbull and Ridgefield finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Hatters got wins by Kai O’dell at 113 pounds, Tyler Johnson at 126, Ryan Jack at 138, DJ Donovan at 220 and Jordan Agosto at 285.


Staples and Trumbull were next with two individual champions. Luke Molina at 160 and Nick Augeri at 195 took home titles for Staples. Mike Longo at 106 and Jack Ryan at 132 were winners for Trumbull.

Lexani Pagan of Ridgefield won the 95-pound title, Carlos DeWinter of Greenwich won at 120, Fairfield Warde’s Will Ebert won at 145 and New Canaan’s Tyler Sung won at 152.
