Defending champion Ridgefield, which won the title out of the No. 7 spot, this year will be the top seed with a 12-0 record when the FCIAC girls basketball tournament begins Wednesday with round of 16 games.
Staples will be the No. 2 seed, with Trumbull, which defeated Danbury today, in the third spot. The 4-8 seeds that get opening home games are, in order, Fairfield Ludlowe, St. Joseph, Stamford, Danbury and Fairfield Warde.
The quarterfinals will be held Saturday, with the semifinals on March 24 and the final on March 27.
