(Fun Facts, where we find out more about FCIAC athletes, was a regular feature on The Ruden Report Overtime newsletter. Until we start publishing the newsletter again, we are going to move it here to the site.)
A new Fun Facts with New Canaan’s Shawna Ferraro, who is also our first Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Female Player of the Week
— What are some activities you like to do when you’re not playing field hockey? Besides playing field hockey I also run and do a lot of long distance. I also love to bake and cook and I help to coach the youth program for field hockey, which I love to do.
— Where is your favorite place to eat in New Canaan? My favorite place to eat in NC is Rosie’s and I always get the same thing every time, which is a cheese quesadilla and fries.
— What is a song that your team or you like to listen to on the bus or before a game? My favorite warm-up song before games is Pompeii (Audien Remix). It’s SUCH a good pump-up song. One song my team really likes to listen to is T-shirt (remix) by Migos!
— What do you typically do before a game to prepare? Before a game I usually always have a big pregame meal and for every game I wear a different color wristband for good luck.
— What are some goals you have for your team this year? Since I’m not sure if this year they are having states or FCIACs, a goal our team has is to not lose any games and to have a really successful season. If there are FCIACs and states then our goal would be to this year hopefully win one of those.
— When did you begin playing field hockey? I began playing field hockey in fifth grade and I did the youth program from 5th to 8th for New Canaan and in 8th grade I started club field hockey for AGH.
— What is one strength you think your team has this year? This year our team has a very athletic and motivated team and we all work together very well and communicate throughout the field.
