A new Fun Facts with Staples baseball player Alex Oppenheimer.

What motivates you to work hard? My drive comes from the love of the game. I was taught to be passionate about everything I do. My parents have always been my biggest supporters. Baseball is a huge part of my life and I work hard for myself, my coaches and teammates.

What is one reason that you like being part of a team sport? I love being part of a team sport because of the environment. Being around friends and teammates that have your back is an amazing feeling. Knowing that they’re always there for you helps me remain confident.

How do your teammates and coaches make practice fun? We all work very hard at our practices. Our coaches keep us loose, while my teammates and I keep the mood light and fun.

Are there any pregame or postgame rituals that you do? I have a stretching ritual for warming up my arm and hit off the tee at home and at the cages before the game. I also always do some light running and biking to get warm.

What is your favorite kind of music to listen to before and after a game? Do you have a specific song? I listen to rock music before every game while warming up.

What is your favorite baseball movie? The original Bad News Bears.

Do you have any inspirations or role models? Jacob deGrom inspires me for baseball. He strives for perfection in everything he does and is a student of the game. I love watching him pitch.

What is your favorite baseball team? What other teams do you watch on TV? My favorite team is the Red Sox and I’ll watch anything baseball.

What has been your biggest accomplishment this season? My biggest accomplishment has been hitting my first home run this season but more importantly contributing to the team’s success every game.
