A new Fun Facts with Westhill football player Omari Lewis.
What game day traditions did you miss most the season? A gameday tradition I missed most this season was having weekly pasta dinners with the team the night before the game.
How did you prepare for this season during quarantine? During quarantine a couple of my teammates and I would go out to the field and run routes and play 7s against each other just to keep ourselves ready for the season.
How has football had an impact on your life? Football has had a huge impact on my life. I’ve been playing since I was 5 and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. And I’ve met so many of my friends from playing when I was younger, and football helped teach me so many life lessons, like how to work as a team and overcome obstacles and to never quit even when you’re down.
Favorite pregame meal and why? I get an Açaí strawnana bowl with whey protein from Robeks before every game and have it during position meetings. I just have to have it before every game. I had it once and then I became addicted and I never stopped.
What is some advice you’d give to any underclassmen on your team? I would tell them to keep working hard and train and get better every day, and to take advantage of every single opportunity because you never know what could happen. You could have your whole season taken away from you.
What is your favorite football memory? My favorite memory was junior year against Trinity. It was my first game back at Trinity since I transferred to Westhill and catching an interception on one of their best wide receivers and catching a 50-yard touchdown pass on a Hail Mary while in double coverage had to be my favorite memory.
