Tonight’s end of the regular season put together the final pieces and set the pairings for the FCIAC boys basketball tournament, which begins Saturday at Fairfield Warde with four quarterfinal games.
Ridgefield (15-1), Trinity Catholic (14-2), Fairfield Warde (13-3) and Fairfield Ludlowe (12-4) all won, clinching in order the top four seeds.
FCIAC Boys Basketball Quarterfinals
- No. 3 Fairfield Warde vs. No. 6 Staples, Noon
- No. 2 Trinity Catholic vs. No. 7 Wilton, 2
- No. 4 Fairfield Ludlowe vs. No. 5 St. Joseph, 5
- No. 1 Ridgefield vs. No. 8 New Canaan, 7
St. Joseph (11-5) lost to Warde and will be the fifth seed. Staples (10-6) defeated Wilton (10-6) to earn the sixth seed by tiebreaker over the Warriors, who are the seventh seed.
New Canaan (9-7) won a tiebreaker over Trumbull for the eighth seed, ironically after the Eagles in overtime defeated Brien McMahon, which would have earned the berth with a win.
The semifinals and finals will be played at Wilton on Tuesday and Thursday.
