The FCIAC boys lacrosse season is less than two weeks old, and look what has happened already. Greenwich defeated Ridgefield six days ago in a quadruple overtime instant classic. The Tigers rebounded with a more-than-impressive 7-5 win over Garden City on Saturday to improve to 3-1.

The Cardinals followed the game with a resounding 18-7 win over Wilton and, in starting 5-0, has outscored opponents by a 95-20 margin.

Darien defeated Manhassett on Saturday to go with a previous win over Niskayuna and is sailing along with a 4-0 mark.

And, oh, have we forgotten to mention New Canaan? It is only the two-time defending conference champion and is rolling with a 4-1 mark, the lone loss to St. Anthony’s.

Staples is unbeaten heading into a test on Tuesday against Greenwich.

FCIAC schools have demonstrated this spring that not only can they be competitive with the best of the New York powers, but beat them consistently as well.

For now, it is hard to imagine someone other than New Canaan, Darien, Greenwich or Ridgefield winning the FCIAC title. There is a lot of good lacrosse to come, but for now, we are asking readers which of the four teams they think will win the conference title? It is one of the more difficult predict-the-champion questions we have posed this season. And we are giving you until Friday at noon to vote and offer up your answer.
