(Senior Spotlight is a question and answer series run by The Ruden Report’s senior interns: Will Dehmel, Alana Goldhaber and Natasha Taubenheim. The three have selected all the questions and athletes involved.)

Dillyn Patten is an All-FCIAC soccer and lacrosse player who will continue her lacrosse career next year at Cornell.

AG: What advice would you give to underclassmen?

DP: One piece of advice that I would give to underclassmen is to really use the knowledge that your captains and upperclassmen give you, they are very experienced and could support you and give you advice on most anything. Also to build very strong connections with your coaches and any staff on the team.

AG: What is your favorite high school memory?

DP: My favorite high school memory was winning an FCIAC championship in lacrosse. AND being able to play with both my older sister Kendall (a junior playing soccer at Cornell) and my younger sister Sydney (a freshman) in both sports, soccer and lacrosse. Those special two memories are something that I will cherish forever.

AG: What are you proudest of from your high school career?

DP: I think what I am most proud of is being able to be a part of an FCIAC championship winning team and program with girls that truly cared about the team and thought of each other as true family.

AG: What was the best lesson you learned as a high school athlete?

DP: The best lesson I have ever learned as a high school athlete is that whenever you are faced with adversity you have to use what you have around you, whether that being your family or your team. Teammates will always have your back and will 100 percent support.

AG: What makes your team special?

DP: What truly made our team so special is the coaching staff that us girls are so lucky to be blessed with. Both Coach (Kristin) Woods and Haley know there players very well and are very supportive of their players.

AG: What was your favorite tradition on your team?

DP: Team dinners are always so fun — and is a big tradition within our program.

AG: As an upperclassmen, how did you take on more of a leadership role?

DP: As an upperclassmen, I tried to take on a big leadership role. I tried my best to communicate with my teammates and always try my best to make sure every girl on the team feels comfortable enough to talk to me or others.
