After a long list of memorable accomplishments over the past three months, it is time for you to decide who was the very best of the best. We have selected six outstanding finalists for our BlueStreak-Ruden Report FCIAC Winter Female Player of the Year award.
The winner will receive a trophy from BlueStreak Sports Training and The Ruden Report.
Here are the finalists, who were all named to the All-FCIAC and All-State teams, and their accomplishments (based on information submitted by coaches):
GEORGIA CASSIDY, DARIEN HOCKEY: Cassidy finished with 34 goals and 11 assists for 45 points.
HANNAH DEBALSI, STAPLES TRACK: DeBalsi set state records in the 3,200 and 2-mile, was the New England champion in the 2 mile and placed fourth nationally at the New Balance Indoor Nationals and is an All-American in two events.
RACHEL GARTNER, DANBURY BASKETBALL: Gartner averaged 17.6 points, 4.4 assists, 4.4 steals and 3.8 rebounds a game.
CATHERINE GRANITO, NEW CANAAN HOCKEY: Granito finished with 50 goals and 13 assists for 63 points.
CLAIRE HOWLETT, WESTHILL TRACK: Howlett won the 1,600 and 3,200 at the FCIAC championships, won the 1,600 and was second in the 3,200 at the Class LL championships, was third in the 1,600 at the State Open, third at the New England championships in the 1 mile, third at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in the 5,000 meters and an All-American.
LINDA MCAULEY, TRUMBULL GYMNASTICS: McAuley won the FCIAC championship in the all-around and was eighth in the all-around at the State Open meet.
