The Ruden Report To Host Student-Run Sports Talk Show

I’ve always thought it would be fun to have a student-hosted sports talk show, where high school athletes are interviewed by a peer rather than myself. It can make for great interactions. I have steamed a few senior-internship mini-series, but nothing regular on a bigger scale.

Starting next week The Ruden Report will host an all-student-run show called Sit Down With Sammy. The show will star Sammy Lindell, a Darien junior and member of the school’s ski and field hockey teams. I met Sammy a few weeks ago when I interviewed her for a story and it was immediately apparent she had the talent and personality to ask questions that are both serious and irreverent.

The producers of the show are two Staples students, Ella Bloomingdale and Kelly Griffin. The camera person is Fairfield Ludlowe’s Aiden Blanc. We plan to add more students as we go forward.

Viva Zapata restaurant in Westport is a sponsor. We will film interviews there and they are providing food for everyone.

Wednesday’s first taping of Sit Down With Sammy: (from left) Aiden Blanc, Mozi Bici, Sammy Lindell, Kyle Kirby, Tysen Comizio, Kelly Griffin and Ella Bloomingdale (missing Nick Cullinan).

The show will run on the Ruden Report YouTube channel. You can subscribe here. We hope to post episodes every Monday and Friday. We will promote each one on my social media platforms.

We filmed the first interviews on Wednesday. The shows will feature Greenwich football players Mozi Bici and Tysen Comizio, Ridgefield hockey star Nick Cullinan and Staples’ Kyle Kirby, a field hockey and lacrosse standout committed to Notre Dame.

We will start taping more interviews soon and try to get to as many athletes from different FCIAC schools and sports.

So look out for the first episode, with Bici and Comizio, next week.

We hope everyone will soon want to sit down with Sammy.
