After a long list of memorable accomplishments over the past three months, it is time for you to decide who was the very best of the best. We have selected six outstanding finalists for the BlueStreak-Ruden Report FCIAC Football Player of the Year award.
They are: Darien’s Finlay Collins, Greenwich’s Kevin Iobbi, St. Joseph’s Jared Mallozzi, Trumbull’s Johnny McElroy, New Canaan’s Ryan O’Connell and Ridgefield’s Shane Palmer.
The winner will receive a custom-made Player of the Year shirt with name and number and a Ruden Report hat.
Here are the finalists and their statistics, according to MaxPreps:
Finlay Collins: Collins finished with 1,624 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense, and 94 tackles and six sacks on defense.
Kevin Iobbi: Iobbi finished with 2,369 yards rushing, receiving and on returns, and 20 touchdowns.
Jared Mallozzi: Mallozzi finished with 100 receptions for 1,514 yards and 20 touchdowns, and 214 yards rushing and one touchdown.
Johnny McElroy: McElroy completed 154 of 274 passes for 2,235 yards, with 27 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
Ryan O’Connell: O’Connell finished with 1,306 total yards and 19 touchdowns on offense, and eight interceptions and one touchdown on defense.
Shane Palmer: Palmer finished with 2,170 yards rushing, receiving and on returns, and 22 touchdowns.
Those are the six finalists. You have until noon on Wednesday to select the BlueStreak-Ruden Report FCIAC Football Player of the Year.
