We have six male and five female finalists for The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Players of the Week.
The votes will run until noon on Thursday. The winners will get our POTW T-shirts, courtesy of Fairfield County Bank.
Here are the male finalists:
Chase DePalma, Norwalk Baseball. DePalma gave up just two hits and struck out 12 to lead the Bears to a 1-0 Class LL quarterfinal win in eight innings over Platt.
Connor Fahey, St. Joseph Baseball. Fahey scattered six hits over seven innings, with five strikeouts, a walk and no earned runs, and added a two-run double in the Cadets’ 9-inning Class M quarterfinal win over Ellington.
Magnus Manley, Ridgefield Track. Manley won the 1,600 at the State Open Championships.
George Persinger, Darien Boys Lacrosse. Persinger made 12 saves in the Blue Wave’s 12-5 Class LL quarterfinal win over Fairfield Prep.
Colin Stowell, Fairfield Warde Baseball. Stowell went the first six innings and allowed just three hits in an 11-0 Class LL quarterfinal win over Maloney. Stowell also threw five shutout innings in a first-round win.
Adam Udell, Staples Lacrosse. Udell scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter to help the Wreckers pull away to a 10-2 Class LL quarterfinal win over Greenwich.
Here are the female finalists:
Ellie Daplyn, Greenwich Track. Daplyn made up a huge deficit running the anchor leg for the Cardinals’ 4×800 relay team and led them to the State Open title.
Emily Dowd, Fairfield Warde Softball. Dowd won her third straight state playoff game, striking out 13 and not allowing an earned run in a 4-2 Class LL quarterfinal win over Newtown.
Sonia Gaughran, Ridgefield Softball. Gaughran went 3 for 4, with two home runs and five RBIs, to lead the Tigers to a 13-0 Class LL quarterfinal win over Fairfield Ludlowe.
Makena Hawkins, St. Joseph Softball. Hawkins hit a two-run single in the bottom of the 7th inning to give the Cadets a 5-4 Class L second round win over Jonathan Law.
Lauren Smith, New Canaan Track. Smith won the javelin at the State Open Championships.
