We have six male and six female finalists for The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Players of the Week.
The votes will run until noon on Thursday. The winners will get our POTW T-shirts, courtesy of Fairfield County Bank.
Here are the male finalists:
Henry Chandra, New Canaan Basketball. Chandra averaged 21 points and 7 rebounds in wins over Bethel and Shelton.
Nick Faugno, Darien Wrestling. Faugno placed first at 215 pounds in the Fairfield Ludlowe Tournament and improved to 7-0 this season.
August Furman, Wilton Wrestling. Furman went 8-0 during the week, which six pinfalls.
Jayson Genova, Ridgefield Basketball. Genova finished with 31 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds in a win over WCA.
Carlo Noecker, Fairfield Ludlowe Basketball. Noecker scored 30 points in a loss to Notre Dame Prep in the final of the Fairfield Holiday Tournament.
Sean Wilson, Trumbull Basketball. Wilson in a pair of wins finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists and was named MVP of the Stratford Holiday Tournament.
Here are the female finalists:
Reeve Burley, New Canaan Hockey. Burley, a freshman, stopped 20 shots in a 2-0 shutout of Suffield and 22 in a 5-1 win over RIdgefield.
Adriana Gromelski, Darien Hockey. Gromelski finished with a hat trick and two assists in a 7-2 win over Trumbull.
Carley Johnston, Trumbull Basketball. Johnston scored 38 points in a pair of wins and was named most valuable player of the North Haven Holiday Tournament.
Hayden McBean, Fairfield Ludlowe Basketball. McBean finished with 27 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 blocks in the Falcons’ first win, over NFA.
Tess Ward, Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon Hockey. Ward stopped 30 shots in a 1-1 tie with New Canaan, the program’s first non-loss against the Rams.
Maddie Young, Greenwich Basketball. Young, a senior who returned to the team after sitting out last year, made three 3-pointers and scored 11 of her career-high 12 points in the second quarter of a win over Notre Dame Prep.
