We have seven male and four female finalists for The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Players of the Week.
The votes will run until noon on Thursday. The winners will get our POTW T-shirts, courtesy of Fairfield County Bank.
Here are the male finalists:
Jayden Febus, St. Joseph Basketball. Febus scored 21 points to helpd the Cadets defeat New Canaan in overtime.
J.R. Meehan, Greenwich Hockey. Meehan scored the winning goal in a 1-0 decision over St. Joseph and had two goals and an assist in a 5-3 decision over Stamford/Westhill.
Dylan Meyers, Ridgefield Wrestling. Meyers won by pin at 132 pounds and was named the outstanding wrestler at the lower weights of the FCIAC championships.
Rysaiah Saunders, Danbury Track. Saunders won the 55 hurdles and was part of the winning 4×200 relay team at the FCIAC championships.
Paul Soracco, Fairfield Warde Wrestling. Soracco, seeded fourth, won the 138-pound title at the FCIAC wrestling championships, one of two wins for the Mustangs, who won the team title.
Hubert Szymko, Trumbull Wrestling. Szymko, a freshman, pinned the top seed at 165 pounds and was named the outstanding wrestler at the upper weights of the FCIAC championships.
Mason Tobias, Staples Basketball. Tobias finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds in an 18-point win over Trumbull in a battle between unbeaten teams.
Here are the female finalists:
Julia DelRe, St. Joseph Basketball. DelRe averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of wins.
Freya Harvey, Staples Basketball. Harvey scored 15 points in a win over Trumbull and finished with 11 points and 8 assists and hit two 3-point shots in the final 18 seconds to force overtime in the Wreckers’ win over Danbury.
Frieda Patzner, Fairfield Ludlowe Track. Patzner won the high jump and the long jump at the CIAC Class LL championships.
Taylor Roncoroni, Stamford Basketball. Roncoroni scored 22 points, making six 3-pointers, in a 22-point win over Fairfield Ludlowe.
