We have seven male and six female finalists for The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Player of the Week votes.
The votes will run until noon on Thursday. The winners will get our POTW T-shirts, courtesy of Fairfield County Bank.
Here are the male finalists:
Zach Broderick, Fairfield Warde Baseball. Broderick allowed five hits and struck out 13 over 6 1/3 innings, plus homered in a 5-3 Class LL quarterfinal win over Glastonbury.
Matt Cummings, Trumbull Baseball. Cummings allowed four hits over six innings and struck out 10 to lead the Eagles to a 2-0 Class LL quarterfinal win over Staples.
Robbie Daus, Staples Tennis. Daus went unbeaten in four matches at No. 2 singles without dropping a set to help lead the Wreckers to their sixth straight state title.
Jacob Ditscher, Danbury Baseball. Ditscher allowed five hits and retired the final 16 batters to lead the Hatters to a 6-2 Class LL quarterfinal win over Xavier, the No. 1 team in the state.
Charlie Johnson, Wilton Lacrosse. Johnson assisted on the tying goal with 19 seconds left and scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Warriors to a Class L quarterfinal win over Daniel Hand. Johnson scored six times in two tournament games.
Matthew Minicus, Darien Lacrosse. Minicus finished with three goals and eight assists for the Blue Wave in a 16-4 Class L quarterfinal win over Greenwich.
Andrew O’Donnell, Greenwich Track. O’Donnell won the 200 and 400 meters and was part of the winning 4×400 relay team at the Class LL championships.
Here are the female finalists:
Gabriela DeFelice, New Canaan Track. DeFelice won the shotput and discus at the Class L championships.
Kaylee Drago, Danbury Softball. Drago hit two extra-inning walkoff three-run homers to help lead the Hatters to the Class LL semifinals.
Anna Gedacht, Fairfield Ludlowe Softball. Gedacht allowed no runs and three hits, with seven strikeouts and no walks, over the final five innings to lead the Falcons to a 2-1 Class LL quarterfinal win over Hall.
Kali Holden, Trumbull Track. Holden won the 800 and 1600 meters at the Class LL championships.
Chloe Humphrey, Darien Lacrosse. Humphrey scored five goals for the Blue Wave in a 15-2 Class L quarterfinal win over Greenwich.
Molly Snow, Wilton Lacrosse. Snow finished with three goals and six assists in a Class L quarterfinal win over Cheshire to set the school record for assists in a season.
