Vote For The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Team Of The Week
Dave Ruden
03.28.2020
We need a good vote! So this week we are doing what I will call an Editor’s Choice. I picked five fall and winter FCIAC champions that stood out to me from a story standpoint.
That means I am not picking the BEST team I have seen so far. That was the St. Joseph football team, though there is no league championship game. And like with our regular vote it is one team per school — the Ridgefield boys and girls basketball teams were a difficult choice.
So what you have is a highly subjective list of finalists. The poll runs until noon on Tuesday. I will give the captains of the winning team Ruden Report shirts or hats.

Fairfield Ludlowe Volleyball. The Falcons were the third seed in a field where there were a number of title candidates and held off Westhill in the final.
New Canaan Boys Hockey. Playoff coin tosses are not just done on Friday Night Lights. The Rams won one to determine the top three seeds but still worked their way to a final win over Darien, which had routed them during the regular season.
Ridgefield Girls Basketball. The Tigers won the FCIAC title as the seventh seed, taking down the top three seeded teams to complete an incredible run.
Staples Girls Soccer. The Wreckers won the title after finishing as one of three unbeaten teams during the regular season.
Trumbull Boys Soccer. The Eagles emerged from a balanced pack and repeated in the first season since the loss of beloved coach Sebe Gangemi.
