This is a mandatory bye week for most of the league, with just five teams in action, including a rare Thursday night game. Westport is the place to be tomorrow, with a game that has important postseason implications.

Game Of The Week

Ridgefield (2-1) at Staples (3-0), Friday, 7 p.m. An important matchup for both schools, which have more difficult games ahead. The Tigers have rebounded well since an opening-night loss to Darien, which right now may have been due more to the Blue Wave’s strengths and less to their own deficiencies. Ridgefield has to go on the road to St. Joseph next week and has Greenwich later on. This is also the first of difficult back to back games for the Wreckers, who next week face Darien. Many are still wondering whether Staples is a legitimate state playoff contender or a notch below. We find out more here.

Brien McMahon (0-3) at Fairfield Ludlowe (0-3), 7 p.m. One school will end the night with that elusive first victory. Will it be for new Falcons coach Mitch Ross or the Senators’ popular AJ Albano?

Capital/Achievement (3-1) at Westhill (3-1), 1 p.m. For those looking for a comparison, Capital is coming off a 40-22 win last week over winless Danbury. The Vikings defeated the Hatters two weeks ago, 34-10. A seven- or even eight-win season may be attainable for Westhill, which will need a victory here to stay on that course.
