Wilton-Ridgefield Thanksgiving Game The Big Reveal As Alliance Schedule Released

On the day the Connecticut High School Football Alliance revealed its 122-game schedule, featuring 132 schools representing all eight state high school football leagues and one independent, the biggest FCIAC news came internally from the league’s great northwest.

Wilton and Ridgefield, neighboring rivals that last year missed playing each other for the second time in three seasons, will now meet on Thanksgiving.

To make it happen, Danbury, the Tigers’ previous holiday opponent, will now face ATI. And the Hatters and Ridgefield, who both wanted to continue to play each other, will meet in the fourth week of the season.

All of the alliance games featuring FCIAC schools will be held during the second and fourth weeks of the season. Class L champion New Canaan, the reigning No. 1 team in the state, will host Fairfield Prep in the second week and travel to New Britain on the fourth week.

Class LL champion Greenwich travels to New Britain in week two and hosts Newtown in week four.

The alliance is in its ninth year. The second week matchups were determined based on the teams’ final CIAC playoff finish last season.
