Fairfield Black won a hard fought battle over Westport North, 21-0, in a 6th grade game. Fairfield was led by its defense. Westport’s offense dominated the first half of play. Westport twice marched the ball deep into Fairfield territory. Fairfield stopped Westport on fourth down on the Fairfield 15-yard line in the first quarter.
Late in the second quarter, Westport had fourth and goal from the Fairfield 5-yard line. Colin Rippey made a touchdown saving open-field tackle to prevent the Westport score.

Fairfield’s offense was inconsistent in the first half and now was backed up to its own goal line, with 95 yards to go.
On third down and five from the 10-yard line, Cole Stotler broke a run off tackle and raced 90 yards for Fairfield’s first touchdown just before halftime.

Fairfield’s defense continued its strong play in the second half. The defense was led by Alessandro Giron, who had seven solo tackles, four tackles for a loss and one sack. AJ Cortina added 4.5 tackles.
Additional defensive stops gave Fairfield good field position, which led to a 1-yard TD run by Ryan Love. Fairfield’s final score came on a 25-yard completion from Ryan Love to Colin Rippey, who had to tight rope the sideline after his catch.

7th Grade
The Fairfield Giants defeated the Ridgefield Tigers, 14-7. On the first series, the Tiger defense caused a turnover on downs and the Tigers took over at their 40 yard line. Defenses dominated early, with Ridgefield led by Mike Salimbene, Henry Nelliga and Mathew Kinsbourne.
Stringing together a few outstanding pass plays, Fairfield scored in the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.
Fairfield took possession of the ball early in the third quarter and scored for a 14-0 lead. The Tiger offense, led by running back and wide receiver Lovron Cherry, roared back with a 20-yard run in the fourth quarter.
