Senior Moments: Stamford’s Morgan Yacavone

With senior athletes seeing the final months of their high school careers affected both on and off the fields and away from the gyms, The Ruden Report is running a series, Senior Moments, to put the spotlight on some of the best of the Class of 2020.

Next up is Stamford softball centerfielder and volleyball player Morgan Yacavone.

TRR: Now that you have been home about two weeks what about softball do you miss the most?

MY: Just the team. The whole organization. It’s kind of hard to go from playing each year and looking forward to your senior year and then it’s all just taken away.

TRR: What about softball do you miss more than you thought you would?

MY: I think just working out with everyone every day, because it’s so weird going to school every day and seeing everyone and having after-school practices and workouts and then having to have the team all work out separately. Contact each other and tell each other what we’re doing rather than doing it together.

TRR: Is the team doing anything through social media or another platform to keep close?

MY: We have a Google sheet and we all work out each day and on that Google sheet we say what we do. Our trainer made a spring sports challenge between all the teams at our school, so we are participating at that. Basically do a workout each day and then post it on social media and you gain points each day for doing the workout.

TRR: What is your average day like now?

MY: I wake up around 9ish and I basically go on Google Classroom and do my homework. It usually takes two to three hours. Then I have lunch, workout, do anything else with my family for the day and then have dinner.

TRR: It looks like a longshot you will have a season. Have you come to terms with that possibility?

MY: I’m just keeping my hopes up, hoping for the best, but I do understand that it is a longshot to have the season still exist. I’m just hoping for the best right now.”

TRR: If you don’t return to school, besides softball what other activity will you most miss?

MY: The two events I would miss the most are prom and graduation.
