Vote For The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Players Of The Week

We have three male and six female finalists for The Ruden Report-Fairfield County Bank Player of the Week votes.

The votes will run until noon on Thursday. The winners will get our POTW T-shirts, courtesy of Fairfield County Bank.

Here are the male finalists:

Joe Cesare, Darien Football. Cesare returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown in a 34-0 win over Brien McMahon.

Cam Edwards, Norwalk Football. Edwards rushed for 290 yards — 240 in the second half — and scored five times in a 41-21 win over Wilton.

Caleb Tobias, Staples Soccer. Tobias twice successfully marked an opponent’s top scorer and helped led the Wreckers to three shutout wins in the Class LL playoffs.


Here are the female finalists:

Hannah ChuckasWesthill/Stamford Swimming. Chuckas won the Class LL diving championship.

Shawna Ferraro, New Canaan Field Hockey. Ferraro scored in the second overtime to lead the Rams to a 1-0 Class L quarterfinal win over Greenwich.

Lizzie Kendra, Wilton Field Hockey. Kendra scored the lone goal in an upset of Staples and had another in a 3-0 win over Hall as the Warriors reached the Class L semifinals.

Jane Ransome, Fairfield Ludlowe Volleyball. Ransome finished with 31 kills, 21 digs, 12 service points and 27 serve receives and five blocks in three matches as the Falcons reach the Class LL semifinals.

Neva Mermegan, Staples Soccer. Mermegan scored the lone goal in a 1-0 Class LL quarterfinal win over Farmington.

Paige Shaughnessy, Fairfield Warde Soccer. Shaughnessy scored twice in a first-round win and had a goal and an assist as the Mustangs overcame a 2-0 deficit and defeated Ridgefield on penalty kicks in the Class LL quarterfinals.
